Weekend in Slovenia

This past weekend we had free, so 5 other students and I went to Slovenia. We stayed in a hostel in Ljubljana that was .2 miles from the city center. The capital itself was absolutely beautiful and everywhere we went had a very modern/contemporary feel to it but also was rich with history and gorgeous looking structures. I've never thought of even going to Slovenia, but I'm so glad that we did the trip because it was incredibly close and incredibly breathtaking.
The first day we woke up and took a bus to Bled, where we hike to the castle on Lake Bled. From the castle top, we saw the city and the entire lake where the other castle sat on a small island in the center. It was a rainy day and yet the view was beyond anything I could've hoped for. That afternoon we went home and wandered the capital and bopped around to see the city and new places.

The next morning we walked Ljubljana again, going to the city center this time instead of around the outskirts of smaller places. The city was bustling and so beautiful. Ljubljana is known for their contemporary art that they supply and have shown throughout the city. Walls and buildings were lined with graffiti and sculptures surrounded the city's center. Everything was unbelievably creative in Ljubljana. We had lunch on the river where we had the perfect view of the colorful buildings and bridges that connected the city.
Overall it was a perfect weekend trip and I would highly recommend Slovenia to anyone that is looking for an enlightening experience in a new and friendly culture!
