First Week Complete!

On our first full Saturday, we did a lot more exploring in different places including different castles and wine country. The first castle we visited was the first one I had ever been to in person, which was an amazing experience. Castello di Villalta was the first one we visited and everything about it was intriguing and captivating. It was full of rich history and beautiful views inside and outside surrounding the castle. Even the roads that we drove on to get there were lined with curves of pretty trees and buildings. We ended the day in the wine country where we had a meal. In between courses we couldn't help but go outside and admire the views that surrounded us. The vineyard stretched very far and covered the hills with pretty greens. Although it is still very early on in my experience in Italy, I can tell that this was one of the most beautiful scenes I'll see.

The next day some students and I took a day trip to Venice. Overall, it was great to see a city that I've been wanting to visit for years. The way Venice is laid out is incredible to experience in person and how the bodies of water and streets actually work. We took a gondola ride through Venice, which was really fun to see everything from the perspective on the water. With minimal planning for the actual trip, we ran into a few snags in the execution of travel. Almost missing our train home, we sprinted through the streets of Venice, which actually ended up being one of the funniest and more entertaining parts of the trip. Saint Mark's Square was way bigger than I had anticipated. The square was a massive open space with the spectacular buildings surrounding it. All in all, it was a breathtaking trip and I hope to visit Venezia again someday!
