Aquelia and Castello di Spessa

Caio!
We have been going to many places in the region such as Aquelia and Castello di Spessa. Today I’ll take some time to talk about both these historic places and what I liked about each one. It’s incredible to see how well preserved these ancient sights are.

Aquelia is a historic roman city, and at its height Aquelia was said to be the 10th largest city in the world. Professor Michael Seaman teaches seems to know just about everything there is to know about the history of Italy. He showed us the historic churches in Aquileia and how well preserved the  mosaics are.

Two days later we traveled to Castello di Spessa up in wine country. The castles in Italy were all built up high on the hills so that they had the advantage over their enemies, so the view from the castle was amazing. This castle is well known not only for its incredible wine and scenery but for hosting the historic Casanova. Cassanova tasted the wine from this castle and loved it so much he stayed for many years afterward.

That’s all for now, thank you to Professor Seaman for the wonderful tour of these amazing historic sights and to the city of Grado for continuing to welcome us Americans.

Caio!
