Week 5: Dolomiti

AT the end of week five, our program took a trip to the Italian Alps. We traveled there in a bus going up the winding mountain roads. Our final destination for the night was Cortina, but we first made a stop on a mountain top that I can't quite remember the name of. But right when we got there we were given delicious thick hot chocolate to enjoy before hiking up the rocks, which I came to regret 20 minutes later when I could feel it clothing around in my stomach as I was trying to pull myself up onto large boulders, but delicious all the same. We got some great pictures there and then hopped back on the bus to continue our journey to Cortina. Once we were there, some of us chose to take a double tram ride up one of the mountains to enjoy the views. Unfortunately, when we got off the tram it was so cloudy that you couldn't even see that far in front of you. It was still really cool because it looked as if we were on Mars, but we still wished we could see the awesome views. But as we continued climbing and taking pictures with cloudy backdrops, its as if the mountain gods knew we were up there and within a blink of an eye, it was perfectly clear. It was so awesome to be up there feeling on top of the world and actually being able to see the views below. It didn't even feel like we were in Italy since it was so different from the beaches of Grado. It was amazing to just sit and look out and appreciate the things we don't get to see very often.

A dopo,
